Workshops: Stop Child Sexual Abuse, Infant Massage, Helping Teens Diagnosed with ADD/ADHD + more...2/28/2019 ***Stop Child Sexual Assault - March 2nd 10am-12:30pm @ Cochrane Library
The Prevent It! Taking Action to Stop Child Sexual Abuse workshop was developed by researchers in the department of Psychiatry at the University of Alberta, utilizing leading scientific evidence. The workshop is useful for parents, professionals and organizations that are: - Interested in learning how to protect the children in their lives - Seeking training for staff and volunteers in the prevention of child sexual abuse After the workshop participants will feel empowered and be informed about child sexual abuse, healthy sexual development and how to reduce the risk of sexual abuse as responsible adults and organizations. ***Infant Massage - March 5, 12, 19, 26 2:00-3:00pm @ YWCA Downtown Learn how to connect with your baby through massage, and why massage is so beneficial for your child's body and brain development. Dolls will be provided for expectant moms and those who come without children . Topics include: Benefits of infant massage for child and parent; emotional regulation; reading babies’ cues; and simple strokes for the legs, feet, stomach, chest, arms, back and face. ***Helping Teens Diagnosed with ADD/ADHD - March 6, 11:00am-12:30pm @ Alberta Children's Hospital Theatre Discover strategies and skills for parents and caregivers of teens with ADD and ADHD To register: http://community.hmhc.ca (http://community.hmhc.ca/sessions/) or contact [email protected] to register.
