Dr Zapf has come from the Paleo Medical Clinic in Canmore and brings with her a long list of credentials including certification in functional medicine and family medicine.

Dr Cathryn Henstock-Zapf MD MBA MRCGP CCFP IFMCPCertified Functional Medicine doctor and Family Physician. 
Dr Henstock-Zapf is from England and grew in France. She read medicine at University College in London. After graduation she moved to Scotland where she was a psychiatrist. Her Family Medicine training was on the Isle of Skye. In 2000 she began work with the British Armed Forces. They kept her very busy for 16 years. She was sent to BATUS near Medicine Hat in 2011 and fell in love with Alberta. 
In 2018 she took over the Bow River Medical Clinic in Canmore in the Canadian Rockies. 
In the military she he used lifestyle interventions to solve complex medical problems and this is how she landed in Functional Medicine. The last posting she had was in Dorset where she met Prof Peter Andrews formerly the Head of Human Origins at the Science Museum-one of the greats of paleontology. He tutored her in human evolution and this changed the prism through which she sees health. She believes a lot of modern chronic disease is due to the mismatch of our genes and the modern environment. The last thing she reaches for is the prescription pad. 
She loves Irish Wolfhounds, horses, Outlander and hanging upside down in aerial yoga.
