Did you know that we are also an IUD Clinic?
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Everyone has known someone who has been affected by this type of cancer. One in nine women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime while one in thirty will die from it. Risk factors include advancing age, a family history, ethnicity, and reproductive history along with lifestyle habits such as smoking and unhealthy eating. Every province in Canada has a breast screening program for women. Mammograms are used to find breast abnormalities that are too small to feel. If the abnormality is caused by an early cancer, this procedure then offers the patient the best possible chance of detection and cure. Many women are afraid of the radiation from mammograms and the myth that mammograms cause cancer. Mammograms however are of very low radiation and the benefit from having regular mammograms far outweighs the risks. Come and talk with your family doctor at Care in the Creek Medical Centre about mammograms. If you do not have a family doctor, come join us. If you do not have a family physician, DR. ANNELIES NOORDMAN, is accepting new patients. Call 403-949-2457 today to book your appointment!
