July is....

JULY is INJURY PREVENTION MONTH

In the month of July each week recognizes a particular type of injury and its prevention. Injuries are of many types, including motor vehicle accidents, falls, unintentional poisoning, self-harm or suicide, drownings, and sports concussions. We are all at risk.

In 2015 for instance, seniors represented 44% of hospitalizations due to injury in most cases from falls in their own home. Two thirds of childhood injuries are from concussions where half of these cases are from playing hockey. How can we prevent injuries?
