JUNE is STROKE AWARENESS MONTH

Alberta Stroke care is among the fastest and best in the world. When it comes to Strokes, recognizing the condition and acting fast are the most important factors affecting the outcome.

For every minute delay in getting treatment, over one million brain cells die. Remember FAST:
F (is my Face drooping?)
A (can I raise both Arms?)
S (is my Speech slurred or jumbled?) then
T (Time to call 9-1-1).

Since the 1990’s the rate of hospitalizations and deaths from Strokes has been decreasing thanks to Stroke prevention and Stroke care. Stroke prevention includes controlling blood pressure, not smoking, and healthier eating among other things.
